How to manage Advantage Voice international long distance calling

Contents
Overview

By default, international long-distance calling is disabled. Group administrators can ask for it to be enabled (by contacting customer service) and they can set an authorization code that'll be required when making international calls. Rogers long-distance rates will apply.

Note: This feature only applies to Legacy plan customers.

To create long distance authorization codes

  1. Go to smartvoice.shawbusiness.ca.
  2. Log in using your group administrator credentials.
  3. Select the Group Services tab.
  4. Select Calling Plans and select Authorization Code from the dropdown menu.
  5. Set Number of Digits to a numeric value (eg. 4) if you think the default length of 10 digits is too long.
  6. Select the checkbox next to Allow Local and Toll-Free Calls without Account/Authorization Code.
  7. Under Administration, next to Type, select Authorization Code.
  8. Select Search to load all users.
  9. Select a name in the Non-Restricted Users list and select Add > to move the name to the Restricted Users list.
  10. Under Add New Code, enter a number in the Code field.
  11. Enter a description in the Description field.
  12. Select Add.
  13. Repeat steps 9-11 to create additional authorization codes.

Multiple codes can also be added in bulk by importing a .csv file.

  1. Go to smartvoice.shawbusiness.ca.
  2. Sign in using your group administrator credentials.
  3. Select the Group Services tab.
  4. Select Calling Plans and select Authorization Code from the dropdown menu.
  5. Scroll down to Bulk Update, select Browse.
  6. Select the .csv file you want to upload.
  7. Select Save.

The .csv file should have two columns: Code and Description.
