Business Internet Speed Upgrade | Doubling your download speeds

We're excited to announce we will be doubling the download speed of our business Internet 150 and Internet 300 services at no additional cost! These packages will be automatically upgraded starting March 7th and will continue through the rest of the month.

What does this mean for you?


Enjoy faster download speeds with Shaw’s Business Internet speed upgrade.

  • Our Business Internet 150 service will be increasing to a 300 Mbps download speed.
  • Our Business Internet 300 service will be increasing to a 600 Mbps download speed.

Do I need to upgrade my modem to get the faster speed?


Depending on your current Internet package, you may require a new, upgraded modem to get the faster speeds. If you don’t require a modem upgrade and would like to receive the speed increase sooner, you can power cycle your modem.

Why are we making this change?

  • At Shaw we want our business customers to use connectivity to its full potential which is why we’re committed to providing Business Internet that’s fast for all with unlimited data.
  • Our significant investments in our extensive fibre network allows us to offer these ultra-fast and consistent Internet speeds to virtually all areas in Western Canada.
  • These enhanced download speeds are as much as 4x faster than other broadly available competitor plans in Western Canada.

I’m already on a contract for Business Internet 150 or Internet 300. Can I opt for the higher speeds?

  • New and existing business customers on Internet 150 or Internet 300 will automatically receive the higher speeds.
  • We will be rolling out the update starting March 7 and throughout the month, however, you can powercycle your modem anytime after March 7 to receive the speed increase sooner.

Do I need to swap my modem to get the increased speeds?

  • Upgrading from 150 to 300 will not require a modem swap on business internet or SmartWiFi.
  • If you are upgrading from a speed below or at 150 Mbps to the 600 Mbps speed, a swap will be necessary.
  • SmartSecurity will see an increase up to 450 Mbps and will require a modem swap when upgrading to 600 Mbps.

Why am I not getting the full 600 Mbps on SmartSecurity?

  • SmartSecurity hardware throughput varies depending on the security appliance installed at your location. More details on You will still see a significant increase in speed at no additional cost. To get the full 600 Mpbs upgrades to your equiqment are available at an additional cost.

Why aren't upload speeds changing?

  • Our upload speeds are designed to meet the needs of the vast majority of our business customers. With cloud technology rising, download speeds are more critical than ever to keep up with demand. Businesses typically use a 5:1 download/upload ratio. However, a business that is a main hub for remote sites, and sends files to those remote sites frequently, will demand faster upload speeds.

Why am I not seeing an increase in speed?


There may be a few reasons why you are not seeing the speed increase.

Have you powercycled your modem?

  • Unplug the power on your modem, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. Modem will take about 5 minutes to fully reboot.

Are you on WiFi?

Do you have your own internal network equipment?

  • Device limitations may be preventing you from receiving the speed increase. Are your third party devices (IE router, firewall) Gigabit ready and enabled?

Have you done a speed test?
