Learn different ways to update your SmartVoice user or group admin portal password in the event it has been forgotten or just needs to be changed.

User self management

Individual users can reset their own password, so long as they know their phone number and email address. If this info isn't known, they can contact their group administrator.

  1. Reset your SmartVoice user password by opening smartvoice.shawbusiness.ca
  2. Select 'Forgot password?'

  3. On the password reset page, enter requested information:
    1. Current E-mail address: Use email address that you gave when your SmartVoice was first set up.
    2. User ID: is yoursmartvoicenumber@shawbusiness.ca
    3. Enter the symbols from the image.
    4. Press 'Reset'.

  4. An email will be sent to the email address that you entered with a link to reset the password.

Group administrator assistance

Your group administrator can help reset your user portal password. This will be someone assigned within your business/organization that has special access to manage your SmartVoice service through their group admin portal.

  1. Administrator logs in with their group administrator credentials to smartvoice.shawbusiness.ca.
    • If admin forgot their group admin password, they'll need to contact Shaw technical support to have it reset.
  2. Select 'Dashboard' tab.

  3. Scroll down to find user to manage. Their password can be reset two different ways within portal:
    • Quick method:
      1. Click on user's 'Name' field.

      2. In expanded view, use 'Password' section in middle to manage portal login (Passcode is for user's voicemail access).
        • Enter a new password or select 'Generate', not both (Generate creates a random secure password).
        • Press 'Save' to complete.

    • Alternate method:
      1. Click on 'Gear' icon to right of user's name.

      2. Select 'View All Services'.

      3. Once user profile opens, select 'Profile/911 Update' tab.

      4. Scroll down to 'Password reset' section.
        • Enter new User Password or select 'Generate' not both (Generate creates a random secure password).

      5. Scroll up or down to find and press 'Save'.

Group administrator access password management

  • Forgotten Passwords: If you forgot your group admin password, contact Shaw technical support to have it reset.
  • Update Known Password: follow these steps:
    1. Open smartvoice.shawbusiness.ca
    2. Select 'Group' tab, then 'Detailed Configuration' to open 'Group Profile'.
    3. Select 'Site Info' and choose 'Administrators'.
      • change password or add new group admin here, then press 'Save'.

    4. If you want to verify general information about your company's group admin, select 'Site Info' and choose 'Location Info'. If errors are found, contact technical support to request corrections.
