DHCP Reservation setup

DHCP reservation

DHCP reservation essentially assigns static internal addresses to devices to ensure they get the same IP address every time without having to hard-code the IP on the device. This is useful for things like printers, servers, backup drives, or computers that require easy accessibility.

  1. Log in to the Hitron modem.
  2. Select 'Basic' menu.
  3. Select the 'LAN Setup' sub-menu.
  4. On the 'LAN DHCP Status' line, select the 'DHCP Reservation' button.
  5. You can manage the DHCP reservation using the following methods:
    • Adding the DHCP reservation from the DHCP table:
      1. Locate the target client in the list provided under 'Clients from DHCP Tables'. If your client is not on the list provided, click 'Refresh'.
      2. Click 'Add' to add the reservation.
      3. You should now see the client listed under 'Client Already Reserved'.
      4. Click 'Save Changes'.
      5. Read the warning prompt and select 'OK'.
    • Manually adding the DHCP reservation:
      1. Input the desired client's name into 'Enter Client Name'.
      2. Input the IP Address into 'Assign IP Address'.
      3. Input the MAC Address into 'To this MAC Address'.
      4. Click 'Add'.
      5. You should now see the client listed under 'Client Already Reserved'.
      6. Select 'Save Changes'.
      7. Read the warning prompt and select 'OK'.
