How to use Plantronics Headsets with SmartVoice

Shaw offers two models of Plantronics headset for SmartVoice. Learn how to use the Blackwire C3210A wired headset, and the Voyager 3200 UC bluetooth headset.

SmartVoice Desktop App Audio Setup

Download and install the Plantronics Hub for use on SmartVoice Desktop app . The software is required to use the call answer/end function with the SmartVoice app from the headset’s inline control on Windows. This is also used to view headset battery meter, change languages, update firmware, enable softphone call control, or personalize settings and alerts.

Follow the steps below for configuring the SmartVoice app on a Windows PC.

Preferences Settings:

The headset can be selected through the SmartVoice Desktop app Preferences settings located under File. Following are the steps to do when connecting the headset via the computer’s USB port. The client version used here is 21.3.

  1. Download and install Plantronics Hub
  2. Launch SmartVoice desktop app and log in.
  3. Connect the headset to computer's USB port.
    • Windows will install the device driver software
  4. Go to Preferences → Audio and verify that the headset appears in the following drop-down lists:
    • Voice Playback → Output Device
    • Voice Recording → Input Device
    • Alert Signal → Ringing Device

  5. Select the Plantronics headset for all three options

  6. Press OK to save your changes
  7. Go to Preferences → Add-Ins. Check off:
    • Allow 3rd party applications to access SmartVoice
    • Accept incoming requests by default

  8. Restart the SmartVoice app by going to the File menu, hit Sign-out

  9. After restarting the app, you may be prompted to allow the API connection request from the connector/add-in device. Select Enable.

Your Plantronic headset should now be ready to use.

Troubleshooting headset

Headset not working?

  1. In the SmartVoice app go to Preferences → Add-Ins.
  2. Confirm the Plantronics Add-In is enabled and shows connected
  3. Disable all other add-ins
  4. Restart SmartVoice app
